Bajaj Auto has developed a new low cost car, Bajaj RE60 which delivers a whopping mileage of 35 Kmpl. Bajaj RE60 will be powered by a 200cc plus DTSi engine petrol and it it’s top speed will be of 70 kmph.

Bajaj RE60 Dimensions are 2.75 meters in length, 1.3 meters in width and it comes with a turning circle radius of 3.5m. Rajiv Bajaj said “Bajaj RE60 is a four-wheeler designed and developed with the skills we have as a two/three wheeler company”.

What is your initial reaction, we would love to hear that. When I heard that Bajaj has equipped the RE60 with a 200 cc liquid cooled, closed-loop fuel injected DTsi engine, the first thing that came to my mind was that for sure its going to sound like a tuk-tuk. Bajaj has also confirmed that their mini-car is capable of providing a mileage of 35kmpl and of course the power figures aren’t being give much of importance. However for those who are curious the Bajaj RE60 is capable of producing 20 bhp.

From this its clear that Bajaj had no intention of getting the RE60 to burn the Nano apart. Bajaj is clear on their path that this is a low cost mini-car built on a minimal investment, no additional infrastructure, resources, huge subsidies or time. On the other hand if all this does not bother you and you are looking at a cheap four wheel mode of transport which would seat  2+2 or 1+3 and an adequate boot space of 44 litres and a trotting speed of 70 kph  - We Urge to wait for a few months and check out the BajajRE60 in flesh.
